Hello!
Today we were presented with a new challenge, work with a partner and
create a functional and fun "PB wiki" that is dedicated to a helpful bacterium. Mauri and I
decided that we would work together on this and we pulled the bacteria "Leuconostoc
mesenteroides". Well, neither Mauri nor I had any clue as to what this bacteria was/is
and also neither of us knew how to pronounce its name. After giving our bacteria's
name, we began the "yummy" process of starting our wiki page. After Ms. Jansen
explained what we were to do to start our going-to-be-grand website, we discussed
what we wanted for our name. After a few flopped names, we decided on "Beyond-
Bacteria". We typed it in and TA-DA, the best PB wiki to hit the World Wide Web was
born!!! For the next two-ish weeks, Mauri and I will be building this site up to be the
best that it can be. Tonight we got onto AIM and talked about what we would be doing
for those weeks. We decided on the semi-loose schedule that is on its own page as
Around seven, we both got onto AIM and discussed what we will be doing in class
tomorrow, since we have an in-class work day. We decided that I would bring large
index cards to class so that we could organize our thoughts and ideas for our pages.
As we were IMing, I whipped out some of these ginormous index cards and began two
of the cards. I started to dissect the integrated assignment for our project and then re-
pieced the things we needed to do on these cards. I started what I thought we could
put on two pages, a "Background" page and a "The Story of Leuconstoc mesenteroides".
That's what we have done so far. For the flip side of this story, go ahead and go read

Hello again!
Well, today in biology we had an in-class work day and, unfortunately, Mauri was not
able to attend class for whatever reason (I think I heard that she had a dentist/ doctors
appointment that had been scheduled during that class today). Regardless of Mauri's
Absence, I started my journal, Sarah's Journal, and added the sidebar/ link thing today. I
Also added the Project Timeline page to the site and both of my and Maura’s Journal pages.
I didn't really expand on what other pages our project needs, but at the current time this
Sidebar/ link drop down list. So far this is what I've accomplished. As the schedule says, I
believe that I will be gathering information on the group's bacteria tonight. As for other
possible page ideas, Mauri and I had talked about the Background page, which is a page
that actually has an index card outline for, and then the "Story of...", which I will be writing.
for the "Story of..." page, I was thinking about taking my research of how Leuconstoc
mesenteroides came to be and what it does for the body, extracting the main points, and
whipping the whole thing into a cute, easy to follow, but still rich in the education depart-
ment, story. C: This is just an idea for a page, but I do believe that it would be a nice
and fun page to have on Mauri's and my site. Again, I haven't spoken to Mauri since this
morning before school, but this is what I have in mind. I do believe that Mauri will also
be doing research and forming notes tonight. I might insert a snibit later tonight on what
Mauri and I discussed.

Hey!
Today Ms. Jansen came into class and taught how to do our own free web evaluations.
These would have to be used if students need to use non-database websites, anything
that could not be found off of netTrecker. Ms. Jansen's explanation of the how-to proved
to be rather useful, as I in fact had to fill one of those evaluations out tonight in order to
the site to be quite legitimate due to its link to the US Department of Energy and then also
due to all the publications that it received for 2005 and 2006. I ended up getting a lot of helpful
info on Leuconostoc mesenteroides. All my notes from the JGI site were recorded and
very easy to follow, but biologically educational at the same time.
Again today, Mauri and I got on AIM to talk about our project. We discovered that we,
like many other groups, are having to turn to the Free Web for information on our
assigned bacteria because the databases seem to be completely and utterly void of anything
even semi-close to the bacterias. I know that Mauri was trying to find some sites on our
bacteria tonight so, I would hope that she had just as much or, in the best case scenario,
more luck than I did in finding and evaluating a reliable free web site. I also believe that
Mauri said that she was working on her journals, so be looking forward for an updated journal
entry on her journal, Mauri's Journal. Also, if she found any helpful information on our
sometime soon. I'll be updating tomorrow on our progress!

Heys!
Originally, our class was to begin a lab today, but the auger did not come in so instead,
we were given an in class work day. Mauri was unable to attend class, so I ended up doing
more individual research on Leuconostoc mesenteroides. I also updated the sidebar, added
site for my research on Leuconostoc mesenteroides.
I also talked to Mauri about her updates and journal entries. We're on the same page
now and she'll be getting on top of those missing updates soon. Both you and I look for-
ward to seeing Mauri's updates, which will be coming very soon.

Hello again.
Today I searched the free web for someone research sites, but, unfortunately, didn't find
anything that would really work too for the project's purpose. I also did this on Friday, and
again didn't find anything that was tremendously helpful. I haven't been using my computer
all that much today so I haven't spoken to Mauri since Friday during class. Last time I spoke
with her, she was going to work on her journals some more (both beefing the current ones
up and writing new ones. I also believe that she is doing research this weekend. She'll need
Tomorrow I will be looking for more research sites and hopefully begin my History/ Story page.
I hope that it will also turn out as well as I think it should. In the end, I might even end up drawing
and coloring pictures to go along with my page. We'll have to wait and see what happens though.

Hello, hello!
Today was significantly more productive in the research area. I got on the free web and
found Wikipedia’s page ( Wikipedia results ). This site was really informative and easy to
follow. It made sense and still gave lots of helpful information on Leuconostoc mesenteroides.
I am very glad that students are allowed to use Wikipedia for this project, since the
Wikipedia site has had the most understandable amount of information!
I haven't gotten the opportunity to speak with Mauri all weekend, but I will be checking
in with her tomorrow morning before school starts. I know for sure that she'll need to beef
up her journals and she needs to update her parts of the site. I believe that I will begin
writing my Historical/ story page sooner than not. C:

Hola!
For today, I looked for some news articles containing Leuconostoc mesenteroides. I actually
found one too. The article, Super Soy Sauce , talks about how lactic acids in Kikkoman soy
sauce has been proven in rats to create more anti-allergy things in one's body. It was buried
in a fashion website though, which puzzles me. Seriously though. Why would a fashion site care
about lactic acids and then care so much about them as to post an article about them on their
site? Any who, that's where I found it and it seems to be a legit article.
As for my group's website, Mauri and I have agreed on at least two pages that we will be working
page. Also, I spoke with Mauri today over a Face Book message and she knows about all this.

Hello!
Today in class we had our last in class work day. Mauri and I agreed on pages that we will
be creating for our website. We agreed to have a background page, a history page, and a media
page. The LM Media page already has two videos on it. They both have to do with fermentation.
The first is about the fermentation of beer and is a cool video of the inside of a fermentating jug
of beer. The second video has to do with sauerkraut, which is fermented by Leuconostoc
mesenteroides. In this clip shows an event that occurs in Wisconsin. This clip is hilarious and all
should wait for this video to load because it is well worth it.
I have not cited these links yet, but I will be doing that tomorrow because it has gotten late.
I also plan to actually sit down and write the history page for the site tomorrow.

Hola!
Today I did get the opportunity to cite both of the websites for the YouTube videos. I also
looked to see if there might be other interesting videos up there and really didn't see anything
that looked particularly interestering or relevant. (Trust me, I watched like 15 minutes worth of
uselessness waiting for people to shove their faces in sauerkraut for a sauerkraut eating contest
and they never did. It was HIGHLY disappointing.) I might have found one goof video that might
possibly work, but I'm not completely sure on it yet. I'll show it to Mauri or send her a link, contact
her somehow, and see what she thinks about it.
Also, on the way home from school, I wrote the history page for Leuconostoc mesenteroides. I
won't say that it’s perfect, but it’s more than what I had yesterday. I will still need to edit and revise
some of it, but mostly I like it and find it to be moderately entertaining. We all know that teens won't
read and actually absorb information if it's utterly dull. (Proof for this would be one of my world history
reading quiz grades!!XD ) That's what I've done so far, but, as the week progresses, I will be adding
more. *OH MY GAWD. I love the AUTO SAVE thing on the wiki pages. My whole journal would have just
been deleted without its super powers!*

Hello!
Today I searched YouTube and the free web for more media/news things and I updated this
journal of course. As of this far, I haven't seen much from Mauri, but I'm giving her the benefit
of the doubt and assuming that she's done all that she says she has. I'm trusting her to have
done what she said she has done. I need to type up her index card with what she needs to
write for her page though. I didn't get the card to her today before she left. She hasn't been
on FaceBook or AIM recently, so I guess I can call her or something. I'll figure it out. I generally
do. C:
I didn't find much on the free web, but I'll still look. I need to give the Project Timeline a facelift.
We aren't following it religiously, so that means that it gets an update. C: I think I'll be doing that
tomorrow though. Till tomorrow's update!
-Sarah.

Hey.
Thus far in the day (in D Period Study hall/ free period), I have updated the Project Timeline,
so it actually reflects generally what we have been doing. I will be editing my page today and
get that out of the way. I will also check in with Mauri today via a phone conversation later
today I believe. The search for media and news things will also continue. I'll check back later
with anything else that I've done.

Hello!
So truth be told, I didn't work on the project at all today. I have to go baby sit soon
and I'll be back around noon tomorrow to finish my part of the project.

Hello!
So today Mauri and I wrapped up the project. I also created a
Recipes! page because I thought it
page. I created the Audience Evalu. document and am waiting for Mauri to upload her bibliography page.
I talked to her on the phone about that. I don't know whether she's uploaded it yet. I am turning the project
in today. C:
